2012.07.03 Full Moon rising

Moon Hunting.... not really hard to find (you just have to be patient for that monthly cycle!


This day I wanted to capture the full moon rising... coming up over the ocean at Neil Street, moonlight reflections on the water in all its glory!  I wasn't disappointed by what Mother Nature had to display this day, but I also wanted to get a little more creative with the images I had taken - I had some of my own visions in mind...

2012.06.04 Partial Lunar Eclipse

A Partial Lunar Eclipse occurred on 4th June 2012.

In a sort of celestial warmup, the full moon will dive through Earth's shadow on Monday evening across Australian skies to produce a partial lunar eclipse that will be visible to observers throughout parts of North America, Asia and the Pacific region, weather permitting.


The full moon of June is known as the Strawberry Moon because it occurs during the short strawberry-harvesting season this month. 


Here are my captures of the Strawberry's Moon partial Lunar Eclipse, taken with my Canon EOS50D and Tamron 200-500mm zoom lens...

2012.05.06 Supermoon rise over Currimundi Lake

2012.05.06 - On Saturday (May 5) at 11:35 p.m. EDT, the moon will officially turn full. And only 25 minutes later the moon will also arrive at perigee, its closest approach to Earth — a distance of 221,802 miles (356,955 kilometers) away.  The effect of this coincidence is a stunning skywatching sight called the "supermoon."

In fact, this month's perigee is the closest of any perigee in 2012 (they vary by about 3 percent, because the moon's orbit is not perfectly circular). The result will be a 16 percent brighter-than-average full moonaccompanied by unusually high and low tides this weekend and into the new week.

I ventured out this evening to catch the sunset and the rise of this Supermoon from the Currimundi bridge overlooking Currimundi Lake...

2012.05.05 Full Moon Sunset from Currimundi Beach

2012.05.05 - Full moon rising over Currimundi Beach, and then looking west up the lake... the Sunset!  MAGIC!!!


Tomorrow night the 6th, will be what we know as the 'Supermoon' when the moon is at its closest to the earth, but until then enjoy todays sun and moon energies...

2012.04.07 Sunset Full moon over Wurtulla Beach

On Friday night I spied the full moon low on the horizon and thought, 'right... I am going to capture the moon coming up over the water tomorrow night..'!
The kids were all geed up for a late arvo surf on Saturday, so I grabbed my camera gear in readiness to stalk the moon...
I captured a few of the boys surfing... and then she didn't disappoint!!!!
