Nipper News saved

Hello,

I have decided to create a new Gallery, mainly because I had to do something with the pile of newspaper clippings that were growing on my desk, which I can now file...

So don't worry if you've missed getting the paper, keep up to date, or delve through past articles which have been published in our local Newspapers. I try and collect what I can (sometimes I miss one), and scan it as a photo image, then it's uploaded into the Gallery.

To view the articles go the SunriseArt website, then in the Dicky Beach Nippers Gallery > Nipper Publicity > Nipper Published Articles.
For best viewing to be able to read the article, view as size 'L' (large).

This was one of the latest articles re: Fastest Man on Sand at Mooloolaba...

Also, if anyone has kept any past newspaper clippings about Dicky Beach Nippers that I don't have shown here, it would be greatly appreciated if you could scan and email me a copy that I can upload into the Gallery.

Watch this space for the Autumn Newsletter soon!! :)

Namaste,

Fastest Man on Sand - Round 4

“FASTEST MAN ON SAND” BEACH COMPETITION SERIES – SEASON 2009.2010

The inaugural “Fastest Man on Sand” beach event series concluded with Round 4 held at Mooloolaba on Sat 20th Feb.

Open to Surf Life Savers from around the world the Fastest Man on Sand attracts "THE BEST OF THE BEST ON THE BEACH" to contest their skills across eight age groups. The re-introduction of the Fastest Man on Sand as a four round series had been done through Surf Life Saving QLD to encourage members (and potential new members) to embrace the beach event/s side of Surf Sports competition.

There were approximately 650 Nipper members from U11 - U14 who competed in the morning on this day with competitors travelling to compete from the Gold Coast to as far north as Mackay, and then the U15-Open competing in the afternoon.

Our local Dicky Beach Surf Club had approx 55 members competing with some great results throughout the day. The pointscore tally is accumulative over the four rounds, and Taron Najilepsy from U11 took out the title for U11 Male Sprint.

The Dicky Beach All Age Relay competitors also savoured victory with their committed training efforts paying off - by the third round they were sharing 1st place with Currumbin then took out the title in the 4th round with an impressive lead on the track.

4th round Winners for the All Age Relay from L to R: Douglas Simpson, Michael Gilliman, Taron Najilepsy, Adam Sciberas, Alex Hearne, Jared Bradicich, Cara Woolnough, Thomas Kidston.

Over 200 images have been uploaded at www.sunriseart.com.au for this event, but the gallery is password protected for DB Nipper Members.

Here are a couple of my boy.... (gosh ~ just a proud mum!) :)

All the kids had an awesome day with many great results, & thankfully the weather stayed fine enough not to grizzle!!

Our next main event is our Branch Carnival in March which is being hosted by Dicky Beach Surf Club.

Remember you can check out more sport action in my public galleries (surfing, kite surfing, footy etc) at SunriseArt.com.au.

Namaste!

Kings Beach Expedition

Hi,

I always thought it was only Melbourne that could experience every season in a day....
and although it wasn't cold, my Kings Beach expedition certainly had a different view depending on which way I faced.
Over 2 days I managed to capture the sunset over Kings, mostly taken from the point (out on the rocks), which was also a little cloudy but provided a nice light show. The midday shots were beautiful blue skies; the next days sunrise was interesting, with black clouds on the horizon & only a small gap in the clouds that allowed the sun to shine through, then as the sun rose the clouds started clearing (a little), there were a couple of skuds of rain (I went & hid in the caves to keep the camera dry) and had the most profound experience... will talk about that in a moment, then cleared to blue skies, in readiness for my next photo shoot.

Check them all out at the SunriseArt gallery.
Galleries > Nature & Water Images > Beach Collection > Kings Beach

here is a couple of samples...

?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb6a10a324d73&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb6a10a324d73&zw ?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb6af44290e5c&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb6af44290e5c&zw ?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb6b623b36801&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb6b623b36801&zw ?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb6bce3b9aeff&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb6bce3b9aeff&zw

?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb6cdc26a2901&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb6cdc26a2901&zw ?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb6dcf88d0f7e&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb6dcf88d0f7e&zw ?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb6e649acdfde&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb6e649acdfde&zw

Back to my profound experience...

Next time you are down at Kings Beach you have got to go & check out these little caves in the rocks.
?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb728214e41cd&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb728214e41cd&zw ?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb730556f8b66&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb730556f8b66&zw

1, they are so interesting the way nature has carved them out into these little hollows
& 2, the acoustics are amazing.
I took up solace in here to escape a passing shower (I love the rain, but my camera not so much) & for a moment I thought I was at an airport!
the echo from the crashing waves stops you from thinking about anything else, and the vibrations felt were amazing, & calming, a whole body experience.
I don't know if the time of day would make much difference, but as it was sunrise I also had this awesome view...shadowed from the sun by the pandanas trees, but able to feel that gentle sea breeze on my face & through my hair. (Yes, I must have been a dog in a former life, as I love the wind in my hair!!) :)

?ui=2&view=att&th=126cb78d69ca6195&attid=0.1&disp=attd&realattid=ii_126cb78d69ca6195&zw

Anyway, make sure you check this out ... & try out all the caves, as they are all a little different - mother natures gifts.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman (Round 4) & Nipper X-Perience

Some of our Nippers were fortunate to secure a place & attend the 'Nipper X-Perience' at the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman series (Round 3 & 4) held at Alexandra Headland on 6th & 7th Feb.

They were able to meet some of our sporting heroes, get autographs on the rashies & caps they were given, introduce the competitors to the crowd & watch the event from the VIP section... right next to all the action!!

Image of the Season

This image was taken on Xmas Day - one of my boys surfing at Dicky Beach QLD. To me this is the perfect image to summarise Summer!  Ocean, surfing, smiling, happy kids...  what more could you ask for!

Inspiration!

Some images of local Sea Eagles taken on 28.12.09 inspired the below verse for the coming year...

Twenty Ten...

Ahhh, The New Year's dawn...  there were quite a few people enjoying the first light of the new year.
This was how I saw it...

Summer Holidays!

As usual (to my late writings) Summer has already started, school holidays are upon us, Xmas has been and gone in a flash and the New Year is now here!!

I managed to pull out our Christmas tree (which hides in a corner for the rest of the year), wrapped a few pressies which make it look the part, but sadly I had been very slack in the Christmas decoration department...so I just went around and admired everyone elses! (One of my New Years resolutions is to be more prepared for Xmas 2010!!)

Block of Units at Caloundra in the Xmas Spirit.

House on the Canal at Wurtulla.

Remember Nippers will be back in full swing on Jan 10th, so check out the Nippers website for any training updates etc.

What is Summer time!  I relate to Summer with lazy days on the beach enjoying the sunshine, heading out for a surf or swim.  Squeals of joy coming from the backyard when the kids are playing in the pool, or under the hose.  The trampoline with the sprinkler under was always my favourite. We will just go with these happy thoughts.. and not mention the heat or humidity, the hot bitumen when trying to cross the road 'cos you forgot your thongs... the sting of sunburn because you were too excited to hit the water and forgot to apply the sunscreen..VERY VERY IMPORTANT - SLIP, SLOP, SLAP!!! Zinc comes in heaps of trendy colours now.  But it is all good, and even with the balmy thunder storms, I love Summer ;)

I had to say a BIG Happy Birthday to Pip for Dec, and I enjoyed sharing the Sunrise on her special day, and the brekkie that followed.  :*

This image was taken on Sep 29th - a spring sunrise over the SS Dicky at Dicky Beach QLD. The long shadows of the SS's skeleton are a haunting reminder of what once was. Always an icon to capture many photographers talents.

      It's Spring Time!

Another season has passed, & we are well into the middle of Spring!  A time of thunderstorms & rain, sunshine & warmth to make everything breed & grow.  The magpies are nesting (rephrase...) The magpies are feeding their young & protecting their nests... my boys always whine about riding to school & getting swooped!

I have been clearing some of my own clutter... finished my taxes, cleaned up the house.... but wait - there's more dust. Agh!  You may notice I have also been spring cleaning the website... it was starting to get very 'busy' so I am attempting to simplify it a little.

Nippers is well under way, and I have signed up for another year to capture the many talents of our beaut kids in their summer sport.  I have created 'Seasonal' Folders for the Nipper pics now & passwords have changed, so flick me an email with child & age & I will confirm & forward 'Sign On' info to you.

So what do you love about Springtime?  Is it the steady warmth without the sticky heat?  Is it the gorgeous scent of roses coming from the neighbours garden? Is it the kids going crazy when electricity is in the air? (hehe, mine do!)

I also love the warm, hazy mornings to capture that magic moment..... at sunrise of course! :)

This morning (14/10/09) was one of those stormy mornings
