Sunday arvo at Peregian Originals

My bestie invited me out for a Sunday afternoon of good music and entertainment at Peregian Originals which is an open air community event that celebrates original live music and brings the Sunshine Coast community together. These events are held on 1st and 3rd Sundays in the park located between the Peregian Surf Club and the beach.
Visit their FaceBook page here.

You can view my captures here at www.kaychereephotography.com.au of the bands and the crowds (and yes, I had to throw a couple of waves in - well we were at the Surf club...).

The bands/singers involved y'day were:
OKA,
Band of Frequencies
Epic Dance Floor,
and...CHEYENNE.

U12 Kawana Grey play night game at Stanley River

A Friday night game was held at Stanley River for the U12 Kawana Grey's who only went down by 2 points in the last 5 mins of the game!  A great game to watch as this Stanley River side has not yet been defeated!!
I haven't mastered the night time sports action thru the lens yet, but pinched Alex's camera to take some video, and the batteries were on the red so I was lucky to get all the highlights of the game!!

A new Logo and Web Gallery

I have gone into creative mode again and have found another site which suits me marginally better that the current sunriseart.com.au gallery.  This site will allow me to do prints & gifts etc online (although it is printed & posted from o/seas), so I have turned off that function for now and will continue to support those within my local community.  But this site will allow 'instant' downloads of images once purchased, so no delay in getting what you want!

I have also found that the gallery viewing is much faster and can also be viewed a couple of different ways.  Much better for those people on the run or in a hurry and particularly to be seen within the screens of iPhones, iPads, Tablets etc... gotta try & keep up with technology !!!

It does not contain pages of information, the only info is a small blurb on the front page (below the main image), the rest are galleries or links to blogs etc.

I have also gone back to trade under my name Kay-Cheree as opposed to Sunrise Art, as Sunrise Art is a style of photography I portray, Kay-Cheree is ultimately the essence of 'me' which applies to all of my photography.

Please go and have a look and leave me any feedback that may assist!

Revamping the Front yard...

Now that we have a few weekends 'at home', (ie: not spending every w'end running the kids around to sporting carnivals etc) it is time to attack our front yard.

This was our Front yard back in 2007... anyone who knows me realises that I have a rather eccentric style when it comes to style or decorating, each corner may have its own theme and most likely won't 'fit in' with the next, but it works for me, and Jeff... well he just puts up with it :)

The triangular patch was a previous garden bed, originally with huge gum tree that had to come out as it starting dropping its very large branches... not real popular when you have littlies running around.  The pool fence was a means to an end to a)keep the kids and the dog in, but worked well to keep other kids and dogs out too!  The winding path is good feng shui.

I have always wanted to rip the space out and pave or do something... it has gone through many transformations.  The happy plant against the wall is unkillable.  It gets full sun, grows right up & under the eaves and gets hacked back every year.  The old kegs give Jeff a sense of being in the garden too! ;)

These Jade plants are pretty old, trimmed and moved on the odd occasion, but still thriving!

Then the front yard (on the eastern side) started to flood on 11.01.2011 for the first time since we'd been there (1999), so I had to dig a few trenches so the water didn't come up onto the front verandah...

Alex had some shots that he took in the rain with his waterproof camera when the water was up, I was also digging trenches in the rain (that was a pretty funny sight), so by the time I got my camera out, it had mostly drained away...

Thankfully there is a gentle fall towards the road, gravity always helps!!

Haven't got round to it yet, but I will fill the trenches with stones/loose gravel or something to keep my little river bed in case it happens again!

STAY TUNED .... MORE UPDATES TO COME!

Stephen & Lynice's special day

I photographed my first wedding y'day - just for fun , for a friend, and to see how my style of candid shots came together. I didn't do any of the reception, they had that organised - & probably a good thing as I don't think I would have been able to see through the lens for watery eyes, yes it was beautiful and I shed a tear or two!

Here are a few from their collection:

And of course their gift was a picture of the Sunrise on their Special Day!
Feel free to leave some comments and let me know what your thoughts!!

Doggy Dawn...

OMG!!!  I have been sooo busy with work, nippers, kids sports etc that I have so missed capturing and blogging the 'any day' moments that keep us inspired ....I will have a few older memories (when I get back to them), but here are a few pics of our Llaso Apso, Milo!!  He comes to the beach with me now when I take the boys down for a surf and is finally becoming much more social when it comes to greeting other doggies.

The sunrise this morning had such a golden glow, it was just beautiful!  So you will notice this in the colouring of the dog, but I couldn't resist playing with the reflections in the water too!

12.01.2011 Wahu Surfer Grom comp at Alex Headland

Following Xmas and New Year, we headed off to our first Surf comp of the new year.. the Wahu Surfer Grom Comp held at Alexandra Headland. The waters were a muddy brown after all the rains, but that didn't stop the kids.....

I love being in the right place at the right time... This one was from a sequence of shots I took - 1of which was published on page 5 in the Sunshine Coast Daily on Thursday, 12th January 2011.
